HEREFORD TOWN HALL

Standing proudly on St Owen Street, Hereford Town Hall is a striking Edwardian building that has watched over the city for more than a century. Opened in 1904, the building was designed by architect Henry Cheers in the Edwardian Baroque style and is now a Grade II* listed building. It has served as a centre of local power, ceremony, decision-making, public gathering and civic life for generations. 

​The new Town Hall was part of a more modern civic vision for Hereford. Its foundation stone was laid in 1902 by Princess Beatrice, daughter of Queen Victoria, and the completed building opened in 1904.

The Town Hall has also seen royal visits, including a visit from Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip in 1957, when a commemorative plaque was unveiled.
