CHURCH HOUSE
Church House, a historic gem dating back to the early 16th century.
Originally built around 1537, it was intended as a space for community gatherings, parish feasts, and other local events. The building's construction, largely funded by local parishioners, is a testament to the spirit of medieval village life, as church houses like this one often served as a place where villagers could socialise, gold church ale festivals and raise funds for the parish.
Today, Church House has been carefully preserved and restored. It remains a valued part of the South Tawton community, hosting events, celebrations and even historical.
Most Church Houses of this kind by now would have been turned into private houses, converted into inns or even demolished.
South Tawton's Church House is still owned and run by the parish.
However, our story doesn't end there...
In the dead of night, footsteps can be heard walking around in the main room above, light anomalies can be seen and the feeling of someone watching you can be felt often.
The Ghostly Nights team have had the pleasure of carrying out an investigation here, we left the night excited and amazed by what we captured. Captured by a locked off night vision camera, we can see an orb drifting over to our devices setting them off.
If you are new to paranormal investigations, then this location is ideal for the beginner for a short, fully-immersed evening into the unknown.
